Transcriptional enhanced associate domain proteins (TEADs) are a family of transcription factors that regulate gene expression related to cell proliferation, growth, and stem cell function. They are downstream effectors of the Hippo signaling pathway. There are four human TEAD genes: TEAD1, TEAD2, TEAD3, and TEAD4. TEADs bind to MCAT elements and require coactivators like YAP/TAZ to activate transcription. The YAP/TAZ–TEAD axis is linked to many cancers, making it a therapeutic target.
