TEAD
Molecular classification
Transcription factor

Overview

The TEAD (Transcriptional Enhanced Associate Domain) protein family comprises a group of highly conserved transcription factors essential for development, organogenesis, and disease processes such as cancer. In mammals, there are four main members: TEAD1, TEAD2, TEAD3, and TEAD4. They function as transcription factors by binding to DNA and interacting with coactivators like YAP and TAZ. Aberrant activation of the Hippo-YAP/TAZ–TEAD axis promotes tumorigenesis, making it a potential anti-cancer target.
