Transducin beta-like protein 3 (TBL3) is a WD40 repeat-containing protein encoded by the TBL3 gene in humans. It is a component of the small subunit (SSU) processome, which is a precursor of the small eukaryotic ribosomal subunit. TBL3 plays a role in ribosome biogenesis and RNA processing, primarily in the nucleolus, and mediates protein-protein interactions involved in processes such as gene regulation and cell cycle control. This protein is associated with WD40 repeat features that enable diverse cellular interactions and regulatory functions[1][3][4][7]. There is no established evidence that TBL3 functions as a therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, ion channel, or transporter, nor are there drugs known to specifically target it or biomarker roles described in current literature[3][7]. Mutations or dysregulation of TBL3 have been associated with certain diseases, such as familial temporal lobe epilepsy[3].
