Overview
Transformer-2 protein homolog beta (TRA2B) is a sequence-specific, serine/arginine-rich RNA-binding protein that functions primarily as a splicing factor in the nucleus, regulating alternative splicing and pre-mRNA processing. It can both activate and suppress exon inclusion, and plays a crucial role in modulating the splicing of target transcripts such as SMN2 and MAPT/Tau. TRA2B dysregulation has been implicated in diseases including tauopathies, epilepsy, and various cancers[1][2][3][5][7].
