TACC1P1 is a human pseudogene—a genomic locus highly homologous to the transforming acidic coiled-coil containing protein 1 gene (TACC1), but with mutations or truncations that render it non-protein-coding[1]. Pseudogenes are generally considered non-functional genomic sequences, though recent research suggests that some pseudogenes may participate in regulation of gene expression by acting as competitive endogenous RNAs, serving as microRNA decoys or influencing the stability of their parent gene transcripts[5]. There is currently no evidence that TACC1P1 has any such functional activity, drug interactions, or direct roles in disease. TACC1P1 is distinctly not a protein, receptor, enzyme, or molecular target as conventionally defined—it is a pseudogene. Querying it as a target is likely incorrect unless studying pseudogene-derived regulatory RNA.
