The transforming acidic coiled-coil containing protein 3 pseudogene (ENSG00000254498) is a nonfunctional segment of DNA with high sequence similarity to the functional TACC3 gene. Pseudogenes like this one typically result from ancient gene duplication or retrotransposition events and contain mutations that prevent them from encoding a functional protein.
