Transforming Growth Factor, Beta Receptor II (TGFBR2)

Target
TGFBR2
Molecular classification
Receptor, Serine/threonine kinase
01

Overview

The Transforming Growth Factor, Beta Receptor II (TGFBR2) is a transmembrane serine/threonine kinase receptor that plays a crucial role in the TGF-beta signaling pathway. It forms a heterodimeric complex with TGF-beta receptor type I (TGFBR1) to transduce signals from TGF-beta ligands, influencing cell proliferation, differentiation, and other physiological processes. Mutations in the TGFBR2 gene are associated with several diseases, including Marfan syndrome and Loeys-Dietz syndrome. TGFBR2 acts as a tumor suppressor and is involved in both canonical SMAD-dependent and non-canonical SMAD-independent signaling pathways.
