Target intelligence / Profile preview
The transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) pathway is a highly conserved signaling cascade that regulates a wide array of cellular processes in both embryonic development and adult tissue homeostasis. These processes include cell growth, differentiation, migration, apoptosis, immune regulation, and maintenance of cellular homeostasis. The pathway is also crucial for the regulation of inflammation (notably in the gut), stem cell differentiation, and T-cell function. Dysregulation is implicated in numerous diseases, including cancer progression/suppression, fibrosis, immune disorders and developmental abnormalities.
