TGFBR3, also known as betaglycan, is a cell-surface proteoglycan that functions as a co-receptor for TGF-beta ligands. It enhances ligand binding to signaling receptors and modulates both Smad-dependent and non-Smad signaling pathways. It plays critical roles in embryonic development, immune regulation, and tissue homeostasis. Loss or dysfunction of TGFBR3 is implicated in cancer progression and metastasis.
