Overview
Transglutaminase 6 is an enzyme that catalyzes post-translational modifications of glutamine residues in proteins, including cross-linking and deamidation. It plays critical roles in central nervous system development and neurogenesis, with abundant expression in brain tissue. The enzyme is regulated by calcium and guanine nucleotides and is associated with spinocerebellar ataxia type 35 when mutated.
