Overview

TRPA1 is a non-selective, Ca(2+)-permeable cation channel that functions as a sensor for pain, cold, itch, and chemical irritants. It plays significant roles in nociception, inflammation, and cellular responses to environmental stressors. TRPA1 is an important target for neuropathic pain, inflammatory pain, migraine pain, cough sensitivity, and airway inflammation/fibrosis.
