Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily C member 5 (TRPC5)

Target
TRPC5
Molecular classification
Ion channel, Transient Receptor Potential Canonical (TRP-C)
01

Overview

Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily C member 5 (TRPC5) is a non-selective, calcium-permeant cation channel involved in various physiological processes including cold sensing, pain modulation, and store-operated calcium entry. It is a promising drug target for progressive kidney disease, depression, anxiety disorders, and pain. TRPC5 can form homotetramers or heteromultimers with other TRPC proteins. Its activity is modulated by extracellular reduced thioredoxin, certain anesthetics, and lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC).
