Overview

Translation machinery associated 7 homolog (TMA7) is a coiled-coil domain-containing protein implicated in cellular proliferation, migration, invasion, autophagy suppression, and apoptosis regulation, particularly in cancer cells such as laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC)[1][3]. TMA7 is upregulated in LSCC and associated with poor prognosis, promoting cell growth and resistance to cisplatin via regulation of downstream molecules including UBA2 and the PI3K-mTOR signaling pathway[1]. Its expression is modulated by IGF2BP3-mediated m6A methylation, controlling mRNA stability and the cellular autophagic response. TMA7 interacts with UBA2, influencing SUMOylation processes and thereby affecting diverse cellular processes linked to cancer progression[1]. TMA7 is also known by several synonyms, including CCDC72 and HSPC016, and its dysfunction or dysregulation may play a role in both oncogenic and neuropsychiatric diseases[3].
