TIMM9P3 is a human pseudogene corresponding to the gene encoding translocase of inner mitochondrial membrane 9 homolog (yeast)[4]. Unlike functional protein-coding genes, pseudogenes such as TIMM9P3 contain mutations (such as frameshifts or stop codons) that prevent them from producing a functional protein product[7]. While parental TIMM9 encodes a mitochondrial chaperone essential for protein import into the mitochondrial inner membrane[1][2][3], the pseudogene TIMM9P3 shows no evidence of protein-coding capability and is not recognized as having a therapeutic, diagnostic, or physiological role[4][7].
