Transmembrane 6 superfamily member 1 (TM6SF1) is a widely expressed lysosomal membrane transmembrane protein encoded by the TM6SF1 gene in humans. It is predicted to localize to the lysosomal and other intracellular membranes and may play a role in the lysosomal function or protein trafficking through the lysosomal membrane[1][2][4]. TM6SF1 may function as a sterol isomerase, though its precise biological activity remains to be fully characterized[2][7]. This protein is present in many tissues, including the brain, kidney, and intestine, and can serve as a novel lysosome marker[1][5][6]. There is no current evidence that TM6SF1 is a therapeutic target or is directly targeted by drugs.
