Overview

Transmembrane and ubiquitin-like domain-containing protein 2 (TMUB2) is a ubiquitously expressed human membrane protein encoded by the TMUB2 gene on chromosome 17q21.31. TMUB2 contains three transmembrane regions and is conserved across species. Its molecular weight is approximately 33.8 kDa, consisting of 321 amino acids in humans. The protein is predicted to participate in the ERAD pathway, which is involved in the degradation of misfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum. TMUB2 has no confirmed biological or clinical functions as of 2025, and there are no approved drugs or biomarker uses associated with this protein. Its only known interactions are with Ubiquitin C (UBC) and potentially with BCL2L13, SGTA, and UBQLN1. TMUB1 is the only reported paralog. There is no current evidence to suggest direct involvement in diseases or therapeutic relevance.
