Target intelligence / Profile preview

Transmembrane p24 trafficking protein 10 pseudogene 2 (TMED10P2)

Target
TMED10P2
Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene)
01

Overview

TMED10P2 is a processed pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional copy of the TMED10 gene within the human genome. Unlike its parental gene TMED10, which encodes a p24 family protein involved in vesicular protein trafficking, TMED10P2 does not code for a functional protein. Recent studies show that some pseudogenes, including TMED10P2, can be transcribed and their RNAs may play regulatory roles, such as acting as miRNA sponges or being involved in gene expression modulation. TMED10P2 has been identified as a downregulated retrocopy in lung cancers, indicating potential as a tumor biomarker in research. However, there is no evidence of direct protein-coding function, established biological role, or druggability.
