Transmembrane protein 132B is a cell-surface transmembrane protein expressed in the brain, specifically in neural progenitors in the ventricular layer during cortex development in mice[1]. Its extracellular region contains conserved cohesin and immunoglobulin-like domains, supporting a function as a neural adhesion molecule connecting the cell membrane to intracellular actin cytoskeleton[2][4]. While the TMEM132 family is implicated in various nervous system functions and diseases, TMEM132B remains poorly characterized, and its detailed molecular and pathological functions are still under investigation. Some genetic variants in TMEM132B have been associated with neurological disorders, notably intracranial aneurysm, but direct roles in disease pathogenesis are not yet established[2].
