Target intelligence / Profile preview
Transmembrane protein 14A (TMEM14A) is an integral membrane protein containing three transmembrane domains, expressed in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and mitochondrial membrane. It is involved in the negative regulation of mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization, thereby suppressing apoptosis, most likely through inhibition of Bax-mediated mitochondrial permeabilization. TMEM14A has been implicated in biological processes related to cell survival and apoptosis, and is associated with diseases such as cancer and various forms of epilepsy.
