Transmembrane protein 150B is a human protein encoded by the TMEM150B gene[3][6][10]. It is a member of the damage-regulated autophagy modulator (DRAM) family, a group of membrane-spanning proteins involved in regulating cellular autophagy processes. TMEM150B modulates macroautophagy by increasing the accumulation of autophagosomes under basal conditions and enhancing autophagic flux[6][10]. It also represses cell death and promotes survival in conditions of nutrient deprivation, independently of macroautophagy[6][10]. The protein may have roles in engulfment of extracellular matrix or recycling of growth factor receptors, thus influencing cell survival and homeostasis. Diseases associated with TMEM150B include primary ovarian insufficiency and premature menopause; however, its direct causative role in human disease or suitability as a therapeutic target has not been established[6]. TMEM150B is not recognized as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or drug target, and there are currently no known pharmacological modulators or biomarkers in clinical use related to this protein.
