TMEM258P1 is a predicted pseudogene located on chromosome 11. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but typically non-functional due to mutations or lack of transcription. There are no experimentally demonstrated roles for TMEM258P1 in disease or cellular biology. All drug-target and mechanistic research centers on the protein-coding gene TMEM258, a bona fide component of the oligosaccharyltransferase complex important for N-linked glycosylation, ER stress response, and intestinal homeostasis[1][2][3][4]. TMEM258P1 does not encode an active protein and is not currently regarded as a molecular target in pharmacology or biomedical research.
