Transmembrane protein 35B (TMEM35B) is a predicted integral membrane protein encoded by the TMEM35B gene, located on chromosome 1 in humans. Its structure and function are currently not well understood, but it is implicated in membrane processes due to its predicted localization in cell membranes. TMEM35B is associated with some cancers, such as skull base meningioma and skull base cancer, though mechanistic links are not well established. It has several recognized aliases including ZMYM6NB. The related TMEM35 (without the B) protein is noted for roles in cellular proliferation and migration in osteosarcoma, including regulation of cell cycle and cell migration, but it is unclear if TMEM35B shares these functions or associations, as direct experimental evidence is not available. TMEM35B does not fit any of the classic molecular target categories (receptor, ion channel, enzyme, transporter) at present, and no drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns are documented for this gene. Its paralog is TMEM35A.
