Overview

Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells like 3, pseudogene (TREML3P), also known as TREM like transcript 3 (TLT3), is a human pseudogene located in a gene cluster on chromosome 6 with structurally related genes such as TREM1 and TREM2. In mice, TREM-3 is a functional receptor involved in the immune response, but in humans, TREML3P lacks known protein-coding ability—that is, it does not encode a functional protein product and has no known biological or therapeutic role. Therefore, it is not considered a therapeutic target in humans[4][1].\n\nClarifications:\n- TREML3P is frequently confused with related functional receptors (like TREM-1, TREM-2, or murine TREM-3) that have established biological and therapeutic significance, but TREML3P itself is nonfunctional in humans and should not be considered a drug target or biomarker[4][1][3].
