The triiodothyronine receptor, also known as the thyroid hormone receptor (TR), is a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily. It is activated by binding to thyroid hormones—primarily triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4)—and functions as a ligand-dependent transcription factor. TRs regulate metabolism, heart rate, and growth & development, playing essential roles during embryonic development and tissue differentiation.
