Overview

TRIM31 antisense RNA 1 (TRIM31-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene transcribed antisense to the TRIM31 gene locus. It functions as a natural antisense transcript potentially modulating the expression of the TRIM31 protein, a known E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in tumor progression, immune response, and inflammation. Antisense RNAs like TRIM31-AS1 are implicated in transcriptional interference—affecting sense gene transcription via multiple molecular models such as promoter competition, RNAP occlusion, and transcriptional collision. Although the emerging roles of antisense RNAs in gene regulation and chromatin structure are of research interest, there are no clinical drugs, biomarkers, or safety issues directly associated with TRIM31-AS1. Its role in disease is largely indirect, mediated via its regulatory effects on TRIM31.
