Trinucleotide repeat-containing gene 6B protein (TNRC6B) is a ubiquitously expressed RNA-binding protein encoded by the TNRC6B gene on human chromosome 22[1][2]. It functions as a scaffolding adaptor essential for microRNA (miRNA) and short interfering RNA (siRNA) mediated gene silencing through post-transcriptional regulation of mRNAs. TNRC6B interacts with Argonaute proteins and is required for miRNA-dependent translational repression and siRNA-dependent mRNA cleavage. It also recruits deadenylase complexes, promoting mRNA decay and gene silencing. TNRC6B has been linked to certain neurodevelopmental disorders and uterine fibroids, but it is not currently considered a direct therapeutic target, nor are there known drugs that interact with it[1][2].
