Overview

Tripartite motif containing 41 (TRIM41) is an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase belonging to the tripartite motif-containing (TRIM) family. It contains a RING zinc finger, B-box domains, and a coiled-coil region. TRIM41 is expressed constitutively in many cell types, including immune and germ cells, and is central to the host antiviral response by targeting viral nucleoproteins for ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation, thereby limiting viral replication. In addition, TRIM41 regulates chromosome axis protein dynamics, which is essential for proper synapsis and fertility in male meiosis. Dysregulation or deficiency of TRIM41 impairs innate immune response and can lead to increased viral susceptibility or fertility disorders.
