Tripartite motif containing 60 pseudogene 3, Y-linked (TRIM60P3Y)

Target
TRIM60P3Y
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, (Homology to TRIM family, but not a functional tripartite motif-containing protein)
01

Overview

TRIM60P3Y is a human pseudogene located on the Y chromosome, and its sequence is homologous to the TRIM (tripartite motif-containing) gene family, which encode proteins involved in various cellular processes such as immune response and transcriptional regulation. As a pseudogene, TRIM60P3Y is noncoding and does not produce a functional protein product; these genes typically arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition and accumulate mutations over time that render them inactive[2][7]. There is currently no evidence that TRIM60P3Y exerts a regulatory function, nor does it serve as a therapeutic target or biomarker in any human disease[2][3]. It should be considered a gene annotation artifact or genomic fossil with no therapeutic importance.

Biological functions

Most pseudogenes, including this one, do not have a known biological function; however, pseudogenes can sometimes regulate expression of parental genes or be involved in gene network regulation via RNA-mediated mechanisms[3][4]. There is no evidence for such a function specifically for TRIM60P3Y.
03

Disease associations

There are no documented disease associations for TRIM60P3Y or evidence of involvement in cancer, inflammation, or other conditions[2].
