Tripartite motif containing 77B, pseudogene (TRIM77BP)

Target
TRIM77BP
Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene), Pseudogenes are classified neither as functional receptors, enzymes, transporters, nor other typical drug targets, but as non-coding genetic elements that resemble protein-coding genes.
01

Overview

TRIM77BP (tripartite motif containing 77B, pseudogene) is a genomic locus documented as a pseudogene—an inactive gene copy sharing sequence similarity with the functional TRIM77 gene family but lacking protein-coding capability. Pseudogenes in general may have regulatory functions by acting as decoys for microRNAs (competing endogenous RNAs) or participating in cellular RNA interference mechanisms. However, there is currently no evidence that TRIM77BP is expressed, functions as a regulator, or is involved in human disease pathways. There are no known interacting drugs or clinical relevance attributed to TRIM77BP, and it is not considered a receptor or canonical molecular target.

Biological functions

Other (Non-coding RNA, genomic element)Pseudogenes generally do not encode functional proteins, but some can regulate parent gene expression through RNA-based mechanisms, such as acting as microRNA decoys or by generating regulatory RNAs.
04

Disease associations

OtherWhile pseudogenes as a class have emerging roles in cancer and gene regulation via competition for microRNAs or acting as regulatory RNAs, there is no direct experimental or clinical evidence for TRIM77BP's role in disease or as a biomarker, nor is it a direct therapeutic target.
