Tripartite motif-containing protein 49C (TRIM49C)

Target
TRIM49C
Molecular classification
E3 ubiquitin ligase, TRIM protein family
01

Overview

TRIM49C (tripartite motif-containing protein 49C) is a protein coded by the *TRIM49C* gene, part of the TRIM family of proteins characterized by a RING domain, one B-box type 2 domain, and a coiled-coil region. These domains confer E3 ubiquitin ligase activity, allowing it to tag target proteins for degradation or regulate their cellular fate via ubiquitination. TRIM49C is predicted to participate in regulation of gene expression and innate immune response, and is localized to the cytoplasm. There are currently no publications describing its direct role in diseases, its therapeutic targeting, or known small molecule or biologic interactions[3][4]. The TRIM protein family has been highlighted for the regulatory potential in cell signaling and immunity, where other family members are being explored as therapeutic targets, but TRIM49C itself is not known to be clinically targeted[1][2][4].
