Tripartite motif-containing protein 6 and tripartite motif-containing protein 34 (TRIM6-TRIM34)

Target
TRIM6-TRIM34
Molecular classification
E3 ubiquitin ligase, Zinc finger protein, Tripartite motif (TRIM) family protein
01

Overview

TRIM6-TRIM34 is a chimeric protein from a readthrough transcript between TRIM6 and TRIM34 genes, members of the tripartite motif (TRIM) protein family. TRIM proteins possess a conserved domain architecture with a RING finger domain, B-box types 1 and 2, and a coiled-coil region. These domains mediate protein-protein interactions and facilitate E3 ubiquitin ligase activity, which marks substrates for protein degradation or regulatory modification. TRIM6-TRIM34 localizes to chromosome 11p15 and may play roles in innate immunity, cellular stress response, and regulation of protein homeostasis. Functional studies on related TRIM chimeras indicate activity in retroviral restriction and immune modulation, but specific data for TRIM6-TRIM34 remain limited[1][2][3][4].
