Overview

The tropomyosin-related kinase (Trk) family is a group of receptor tyrosine kinases that play essential roles in the development and function of the nervous system. The family consists of three members: TrkA, TrkB, and TrkC. Each receptor binds to different neurotrophins and activates intracellular signaling cascades that regulate neuronal survival, differentiation, and synaptic plasticity. Aberrant activation of Trk receptors, often through gene fusions, can contribute to oncogenesis, making them therapeutic targets for cancer therapy.
