Tropomyosin-related kinase receptor type B (TrkB)

Target
TrkB
Molecular classification
Receptor tyrosine kinase, Transmembrane receptor

Overview

Tropomyosin-related kinase receptor type B (TrkB) is a receptor tyrosine kinase encoded by the NTRK2 gene. It is a high-affinity receptor for neurotrophins, particularly brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and neurotrophin-4/5 (NT-4/5), and plays a critical role in neuronal survival, differentiation, development, and synaptic plasticity. Abnormal TrkB activation is implicated in tumorigenesis and may confer resistance to therapies, making it a target for anti-cancer therapy.
