However, TRPC6P1 itself lacks the coding potential or regulatory elements necessary to produce a functional TRPC6 protein or to act as an ion channel. Pseudogenes like TRPC6P1 may arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and typically do not have known biological activities, disease roles, or relevance as therapeutic targets. All known biology, disease links, and drug interactions associated with "TRPC6" pertain to the protein-coding gene, not the pseudogene TRPC6P1.
