Overview

TRPC7 antisense RNA 1 (TRPC7-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the antisense strand of the TRPC7 gene locus. It does not code for a protein and is classified as a non-protein coding RNA. TRPC7-AS1 is notably upregulated in hepatitis B virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), where it has been proposed as a potential therapeutic target or diagnostic biomarker. Its expression is also associated with kidney clear cell sarcoma. Functional data suggest a possible role in the regulation of gene expression and epigenetic modification (such as m6A RNA methylation), but it is not currently classified as a druggable therapeutic target like receptors, enzymes, or ion channels. No direct drug interactions or mechanism-of-action data are available for TRPC7-AS1 at this time. It is not the TRPC7 protein or channel itself, but its antisense RNA, and should not be confused with ion channel targets[3][5][6].
