Trypanosomal glycolytic enzymes are a group of enzymes responsible for catalyzing the steps of glycolysis in trypanosomatid parasites, such as *Trypanosoma brucei* and *T. cruzi*. These enzymes are uniquely compartmentalized within specialized organelles called glycosomes, which distinguishes them from their mammalian counterparts. Glycolysis is the primary energy source for these parasites, especially in their bloodstream form. The structural differences between trypanosomal and human glycolytic enzymes make them attractive drug targets. Selective inhibitors and RNA interference studies targeting these enzymes have shown promise in killing parasites.
