Overview

Trypsinogen is the inactive precursor (zymogen) of trypsin, a key digestive enzyme. It is synthesized and secreted primarily by the pancreas. It is activated by enteropeptidase in the small intestine to form trypsin, which then activates other digestive enzymes. Elevated levels of trypsinogen can be indicative of pancreatic injury or cystic fibrosis.
