Tryptanosoma brucei CDC-like kinase 1 (TbCLK1) is a protein kinase found in the protozoan parasite *Trypanosoma brucei*, the causative agent of African trypanosomiasis. TbCLK1 is a member of the Cdc2-like kinase (CLK) family and is an essential component of the kinetochore, critical for chromosome segregation during mitosis. Inhibition of TbCLK1 disrupts kinetochore function, leading to cell cycle arrest and parasite death. TbCLK1 is a validated drug target due to its essentiality and the availability of selective inhibitors.
