Mast Cell Tryptase (Tryptase)

Target
Tryptase
Molecular classification
Serine Protease, Enzyme
01

Overview

Mast cell tryptase is a neutral serine protease and the most abundant mediator stored in mast cell granules. It plays a central role in inflammatory and immediate allergic reactions, functioning as a specific marker for mast cell activation and degranulation. It is involved in airway homeostasis, vascular relaxation and contraction, gastrointestinal smooth muscle activity, intestinal transport, coagulation, angiogenesis, and neuropeptide modulation. Elevated levels are associated with various conditions, including anaphylaxis, mast cell disorders, hematological conditions, and cancer. It is a potential therapeutic target for allergic and inflammatory diseases, cancer, and mast cell disorders.
