Overview

TSC22D1 antisense RNA 1 (TSC22D1-AS1), also known as LINC00407, is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcript that is non-protein coding and is classified as an antisense RNA with respect to the TSC22D1 gene[4]. The gene for TSC22D1-AS1 is located in the human genome close to, and transcribed in the opposite direction from, the TSC22D1 coding gene. While its specific biological functions have not been fully characterized in the available literature, long non-coding RNAs of this type are generally involved in the regulation of neighboring gene expression (in this case, likely influencing TSC22D1) and may participate in epigenetic, transcriptional, or post-transcriptional gene regulation. There is currently insufficient evidence to classify TSC22D1-AS1 as a therapeutic target or to associate it directly with clinically actionable disease mechanisms or drug interactions[4].
