Overview

TSPOAP1 antisense RNA 1 (TSPOAP1-AS1) is a **long non-coding RNA (lncRNA)** transcribed from the TSPOAP1 locus[3]. It functions in the regulation of host immune responses, particularly by dampening type I interferon (IFN) signaling via inhibition of interferon-beta transcription and downstream ISRE (interferon-sensitive response element) activation, ultimately **facilitating viral replication**, such as that of influenza A virus[2][5]. Expression of TSPOAP1-AS1 is inducible by viral infection and synthetic analogs of viral RNA, with nuclear and cytoplasmic localization[2]. In oncology research, TSPOAP1-AS1 is emerging as a potential **biomarker for cancer prognosis** (e.g., in cervical cancer), and participates in regulation networks involving ribosome function, oxidative phosphorylation, antigen presentation, and cell adhesion[6].
