TTC23 antisense RNA 1 (TTC23-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the opposite DNA strand of the TTC23 gene. As an antisense RNA, it does not encode a protein but is presumed to regulate gene expression, often impacting its overlapping or adjacent sense gene in cis or trans through mechanisms such as modulation of transcription, RNA stability, or chromatin organization. Specific functional studies or disease associations for TTC23-AS1 have not been reported, and it does not serve as a known therapeutic target, biomarker, or safety concern itself. The gene is located on human chromosome 15 (chr15:99139317-99145370, hg38). As with many antisense lncRNAs, TTC23-AS1 might play a role in the regulation of its sense gene TTC23, but direct evidence for biological or disease functions is currently lacking.
