TTC28 antisense RNA 1 (TTC28-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense RNA gene transcribed from the TTC28 gene locus on chromosome 10 (also reported at chromosome 22 in some references, but major sources agree on chromosome 10)[2][3]. TTC28-AS1 is non-protein coding and functions as an antisense RNA, likely involved in regulating the expression of neighboring or overlapping genes by interacting with microRNAs and chromatin-modifying complexes[1][5]. Recent studies implicate TTC28-AS1 in attenuating high glucose-induced cellular damage in renal tubular epithelial cells via modulation of the miR-320a/CD2AP axis, with implications in diabetic nephropathy[1]. Multi-lncRNA signatures that include TTC28-AS1 have been correlated with prognosis in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia and bladder cancer, indicating its potential as a prognostic biomarker[1]. However, there are no known drugs that directly target TTC28-AS1, and its exact biochemical functions and broader clinical relevance remain under-investigated as of the latest research.
