TTC39A antisense RNA 1 (TTC39A-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 1 (Ensembl: ENSG00000261664) with no protein-coding capacity[6][11][13]. TTC39A-AS1 is thought to regulate gene expression, including functioning as a competing endogenous RNA by sponging microRNAs—specifically, in breast cancer, it sponges miR-483-3p and upregulates MTA2, a metastasis-associated gene, thereby promoting tumorigenicity[3]. High levels of TTC39A-AS1 are correlated with worse prognosis in breast cancer. It is also associated with retinitis pigmentosa, although its precise role in this disease remains unclear[1]. Current evidence supports its role as a regulator of cellular processes such as apoptosis, proliferation, migration, and invasion, primarily through its interactions at the RNA level; it is not a conventional therapeutic target, such as a receptor or enzyme[2][3][4][5][6][13].
