Tubulin alpha-3C chain (TUBA3C) is a major structural protein of microtubules, essential cytoskeletal filaments in eukaryotic cells. Microtubules are involved in cell division, intracellular transport, and maintaining cell shape. TUBA3C represents an alpha-tubulin isotype and forms heterodimers with beta-tubulin to build microtubules. It binds nucleotides (GTP/GDP), exhibits GTPase activity, and is ubiquitously involved in the formation of the cytoskeleton. Genetic variations in TUBA3C are associated with several cancers and rare syndromes. As a member of the tubulin family, it is targeted by various antimitotic drugs commonly used in cancer therapy, which disrupt microtubule dynamics to inhibit cell proliferation[1][2][3][8].
