Tubulin alpha-3E chain is a **highly conserved alpha-tubulin isoform** that constitutes one half of the heterodimeric tubulin complex, the primary structural component of eukaryotic microtubules. Microtubules are essential for cellular processes including mitosis, intracellular transport, and maintenance of cell shape. TUBA3E is expressed in various tissues and, like other tubulins, polymerizes with beta-tubulin to form dynamic microtubule filaments. Mutations in TUBA3E are associated with disorders such as primary microcephaly and Seckel syndrome, highlighting its essential developmental role.
