Tubulin alpha pseudogene 13 (TUBAP13) is classified as a pseudogene annotation in databases, not as a protein-coding gene or functional molecular target. It is annotated as a pseudogene in the human genome and does not encode a functional protein product. While the human genome contains many functional alpha-tubulin genes (such as TUBA1A, TUBA4A, etc.), as well as numerous pseudogenes, TUBAP13 is classified among the latter. Pseudogenes do not produce functional proteins and are generally regarded as non-functional genetic elements, often the result of gene duplication or retrotransposition events followed by the accumulation of disabling mutations. TUBAP13 is a pseudogene, not a canonical molecular target. It has no established protein product, biological function, therapeutic relevance, or associated disease role. The well-studied functional tubulin alpha genes (e.g., TUBA1A, TUBA4A, TUBA3C) encode proteins essential to microtubule structure and dynamics and may be involved in disease when mutated. Pseudogenes, by definition, are non-functional in terms of protein coding and are not considered valid molecular targets for therapeutics or drug discovery. There is no evidence that "tubulin alpha pseudogene 13" (TUBAP13) produces a protein or acts as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any other recognized therapeutic molecular target class. If an alpha-tubulin protein, microtubule, or cytoskeletal drug/therapeutic target is intended, refer to canonical genes such as Tubulin alpha-1a (TUBA1A) or Tubulin alpha-4a (TUBA4A) instead.
