Tubulin alpha pseudogene 15 (TUBAP15)

Tubulin alpha pseudogene 15 (TUBAP15) is a pseudogene annotated in the human genome. Unlike protein-coding genes that produce functional proteins, pseudogenes like TUBAP15 are considered genomic DNA sequences similar to known genes but are typically non-functional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements. TUBAP15 shares sequence similarity with genes encoding alpha-tubulin, a component of microtubules important for cell structure and division, but does not produce functional tubulin protein. There is no evidence that TUBAP15 is involved in disease mechanisms, therapeutic drug targeting, or clinical biomarker development. Its main relevance is as a genomic relic, without protein product or direct therapeutic interest.
