Tubulin beta-4B class IVb pseudogene 2 (TUBB4BP2) is a pseudogene related to the beta-tubulin gene family. Pseudogenes are DNA segments resembling functional genes but typically lack the ability to encode a functional protein due to mutations or deletions. TUBB4BP2 does not produce tubulin protein and is not involved in microtubule formation or other cellular functions attributed to active tubulin genes. There is no evidence supporting a direct therapeutic, biological, or disease-associated role for this pseudogene. It is sometimes conflated with the functional TUBB4B gene, which is involved in microtubule cytoskeletal structure and cell division, but TUBB4BP2 itself does not serve as a therapeutic target or biomarker.
