Target intelligence / Profile preview
Tubulin beta-8 chain (TUBB8) is a primate-specific beta-tubulin isotype that constitutes the major beta-tubulin subunit in human oocytes and early embryos. It is essential for microtubule network formation, meiotic spindle assembly, and normal oocyte maturation. Genetic defects in TUBB8 result in female infertility due to meiotic arrest and have been identified as the cause of oocyte/zygote/embryo maturation arrest syndromes[1][2][3][4][6][7].
